花旦是中国传统戏曲角色行当，为青年或中年女性的形象，性格活泼或泼辣放荡，常常带点喜剧色彩。花旦一词，来自元代夏庭芝的《青楼集》：“凡妓，以墨点破其面者为花旦。”旦，是中国戏曲旦行中的一支，区别于正旦(北方剧种多称“青衣”)、武旦和老旦。扮演的多为天真烂漫、性格开朗的妙龄女子。
